Leaning towards the Sun Valley area?

Located in the northwest corner of Alto, just 5 minutes north of Ruidoso, the Sun Valley district consists of three different subdivisions that were developed in the 1960s. Starting out with dirt roads and quaint small cabins this area has evolved into a forward thinking community with quickly becoming one of the more popular areas in Alto without the fees of a Home Owner's Association.  Most roads are now paved and homes in the area range from small cabins to 4,000 sq ft mountain homes.  

What sets Sun Valley aside from other areas? A solar photo-voltaic system installed by Sun Valley Water and Sanitation District was able to keep the water pumping to volunteer fire fighters in the 2012 Little Bear Fire when all other power in the area had been lost. This kept the fire out of their district and kept homes safe. 

Serving as a model for other medium size water districts The Sun Valley Water and Sanitation District was also named the Water System of the Year for medium systems by the New Mexico Rural Water in 1997, and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2015.
