Kokopelli Mesa Subdivision began in 1995 as the dream of Gene Burdine, owner of a large Dallas bakery who had a second home in Alto Lakes Golf & Country Club. Kokopelli Mesa is surrounded on three sides by ALG&CC (but is not a part of the ALG&CC development) and is currently the only gated residential community in Lincoln County with curbed and guttered streets, a sewer system, a water system (supplied by Alto Lakes Water & Sanitation District), an 18-hole executive-style golf course, tennis courts, pro shop and clubhouse with dining. Twenty-five years later, the Burdine family is still developing Kokopelli Mesa. There are currently thirty-six homes and villas in Kokopelli Mesa with 5 more to begin construction in the next year.

Lot sizes range from just over one-tenth of an acre to 1.4 acres. Lot prices start at $55,000 and range up to $160,000. Home sales in Kokopelli Mesa have consistently averaged $250 per square foot.
